At the invitation of Les Nuits de Fourvière (Lyon), Philippe Decouflé and the Compagnie DCA present Extra Bal, a dance karaoke – a participatory experience where the performance becomes a space for connection and movement.
\nAt the crossroads of a community dance, performance art and choreographed karaoke, Extra Bal invites everyone to join in the dance, regardless of their age, experience or confidence. Participants are encouraged to discover, replicate or reinvent movements drawn from a vast repertoire of dances. From global pop culture classics to timeless classics, via more niche genres, the project celebrates the diversity of forms and imaginations that flow through our bodies.
\nIn an age when opportunities to share a sensory experience as a group are becoming increasingly rare, Extra Bal is more than just a show: it is an invitation to come together, to let the music carry you away and, for the duration of an evening, to experience a community in motion. The project celebrates dance as a popular, festive and unifying practice, capable of forging instant connections and offering a space for freedom, creativity and camaraderie. By blurring the boundaries between performers and audience members, Extra Bal gives rise to a fleeting community united by the joy of movement.
