Meritxell Checa Esteban

Born in Spain in 1983, Meritxell Checa Esteban studied various dance disciplines independently, and in 2006 joined the Folkwang Hochshule University in Essen (Germany).

She has always combined her own artistic creation and performance work with various international artists and companies: Alias Compagnie (Switzerland), Tanztheater Wuppertal von Pina Bausch (Germany), Johannes Wieland in Staatstheater Kassel (Germany), DCA-Philippe Decouflé (France), Stopgap Dance Company (England), Catherine Legrand with the repertoire of Dominique Bagouet (France), among others.

Since 2015, with the WILKY_TROC association she directs, she has been developing creative and educational work through dance with non-professional audiences and/or those in difficult situations.
In 2023, she founded Les Sauvages, a senior dance company based in Loire Atlantique.
Meritxell Checa Esteban holds a French state diploma as a contemporary dance teacher.
With Compagnie DCA, she has danced in the shows Octopus, Panorama, Contact, Courtepointe, Nouvelle Pièces Courtes and Shazam 2.0.2.1.
