Philippe Guillotel

Philippe started designing and creating his first costumes at the tender age of eight. As soon as he could, he studied design, cutting and sewing in a number of schools in Paris. After working as designer in the fashion world for a number of years, he discovered dance and his true passion: costume and movement.
He has been working with Philippe Decouflé since 1985, on several projects such as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 16th Winter Olympics in Albertville (1992), the Opening Ceremony for the 50th anniversary of the International Cannes Film Festival (1997), and Tricodex, a multimedia work for the Ballet of the Lyon Opera House (2003). Between 2001 and 2005, he created the costumes for 4 ballets, including La Belle for the Ballets of Monte Carlo.
Philippe has also made a name for himself in cinema and music, creating the exuberant costumes for the film Astérix et Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre directed by Alain Chabat, for which he won the César award for best costumes in 2002.
