Pierre-Jean Verbraeken
He met the performing arts with Philipe Decouflé in 1985, and since then has never ceased to rack his brains for this very special art form.
A self-made man, musician, technician, set designer and specialist in special effects, mechanisms and props of all kinds, Pierre-Jean has worked with Compagnie DCA on some twenty projects, from Codex (1986) to Octopus (2010), including Triton (1990), Petites pièces montées (1994), Décodex (1996), Shazam! (1998) and Iris (2003).
He has also worked with the company on events that have marked its history, including the opening and closing ceremonies of the Albertville Olympic Games.
Pierre-Jean has been an active member of the Clown sans frontières association since its creation in 1993, and has taken part in expeditions to Croatia, Bosnia and Moldavia, and in preparations for an expedition to Uruguay. He has worked with the Luna Collectif since 2003 (Carnaval de Viareggio, Il était une fois sous la Lune, Les filles de la Lune) and founded the Skelet company in 2007 with Paloma Gutierrez.
He has also worked on numerous television projects: Avida (feature film by Benoit Délépine and Gustave Kevern), Baygon (Jean-Pierre Jeunet) and won 1st prize at the Video and Information Festival at the Centre Pompidou with the medium-length film Dernière images d'Epinal avant la télématique (1983).
